The Rockford Illinois Chapter

The Rockford Illinois Chapter (RIC) of Partnership for Cures was founded in the spring of 2007 by a group of Rockford philanthropists and business professionals who understand and support the critical need to drive better treatments and cures to patients right now!

This founding group, joined by dozens of other Rockford humanitarians, is committed to raise funds for a wide variety of Two Years to Cures medical research projects related to a wide variety of catastrophic diseases.

To effectively launch the Rockford Chapter, an inaugural informational event was held at the Northern Illinois Extension Facility in Rockford on May 10, 2007.   This event kicked off a two year $1M Campaign for Cures that is being co-chaired by Rockfordians Al and Terry Provenzano and Sue and Jo Castrogiovanni.  This campaign is almost one-third funded as the result of a significant lead gift from the Provenzanos, generous gifts from the RIC Board and other supporters.

The Rockford Illinois Chapter of Partnership for Cures has already agreed to fund several projects, including a stem cell transplant clinical trial for blood cancer patients at the Mayo Clinic, a project repurpsoing natural compounds for the children's disease FD (Familial Dysautonomia) at Fordham University, a lupus project at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, and a soon to be defined multiple sclerosis project.
